quote How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart, you begin to understand, there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend.

quote It was a conscious effort to have a diverse cast just to represent our world. I don’t think it’s realistic for the whole cast to be white. I also think when you are developing a show and casting it mostly Caucasian and you get down to the bad guy and the network is like, “You have to have some diversity,” then all of the sudden…that’s why the person of color is always killed. And because we have so much diversity in our cast and we’ve had the freedom to cast our villains and victims however we want, so we can kill as many white people as we want.

If someone else says Derek didn’t care about his pack, I will scream.

The fact is, Derek did care about his pack. He just didn’t know how to be an alpha. He didn’t have the necessary training and knowledge on how to be one.

Derek purposely picked three teenagers who were struggling with their lives. Derek has always thought of the bite as a gift which is why he gifted it to three people he believed would benefit from it.

But that wasn’t the only reason he turned them. He also knew that every alpha needs a pack. He knew that alphas draw power from their packs, and he knew that the alpha pack was infamous for recruiting alphas. Derek knew he didn’t want to be a part of the alpha pack and hurried to get his own pack ready to fight off the alphas. The problem? He didn’t tell his pack about the alphas.

But I hate when people say that Derek never cared about his pack. Not only did he take orphaned Isaac into his care immediately, but he also searched tirelessly for Erica and Boyd when they were missing. When he finally found them, he outright said he was ready to give his life for theirs.

And when Derek learned that the alpha pack wanted him to kill his own pack, Derek immediately tried to push his pack away from himself. That’s why he threw the glass at Isaac. It was the only way Derek knew would be effective enough to have Isaac leave and never come back. It didn’t work, though.

and i will go to my grave angry at jeff davis for that deleted scene where derek made isaac sleep on the floor, keep his clothes in a school locker, and take the bus.

no, no, nononononono. derek is a lot of things, but he knows what pack means. this gif set is only 1 of many examples where he displayed this.

Now I really want to write fic where Derek is a really good big-brother/puesdo-guardian for Isaac. Even when he isn’t that great of an aphla, he drives Isaac to school and buys him a bed and helps with his homework because he was secretly a nerd in high school.

Except I don’t write fanfic anymore. I’m like fandom retired people.

next time you go to accuse a teenage girl of overreacting remember that when a bunch of elderly white men couldn’t agree on something, they shut down the government
